Around Yucca Mountain in the Nevada Test Site is a rich history of nuclear testing and experiments. 928 nuclear bombs have been detonated in the area. Also, there are sub critical tests still being performed there. Since the area has been exposed already to radiation trauma why not continue and not ruin any where else? The funny part is that these tests were actually performed closer to Las Vegas than Yucca mountain is to Las Vegas.
